 Intern Testimonial

"I have recently graduated from AUT University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Conflict Resolution. Before I graduated I was required to carry out a work placement in an organisation that related to my degree. I decided to look into doing my placement with The Peace Foundation as I had been a Cool Schools' Peer Mediator in primary school. After researching further into what the organisation did within schools and the wider community, I decided that The Peace Foundation would be the perfect place for me gain work experience in my preferred major, Conflict Resolution. Throughout my internship at The Peace Foundation, I not only furthered my understanding of different conflict resolution skills, such as mediation, but also got to participate in awesome events within the community, meet a lot of great people with an enormous passion for what they do and have a really fun time! It was great to finish my internship knowing that in some small way I had positively contributed to the organisation. I will always treasure the experience, friendships and knowledge I gained from working within The Peace Foundation."

Guinevere Alai

Talofa lava and warm Pacific greetings!

Guinevere Alai is a New Zealand born Samoan who is currently completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies, with the National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, at the University of Otago. Guinevere has chosen to carry out her course practicum with The Peace Foundation in Auckland because of her passion to work with NZ's Pacific Island community, and to further promote peace in our multi-cultural communities in any way possible. In her spare time she likes to stay active in Dunedin's cold weather by instructing Zumba classes as a certified Zumba instructor, and also by playing social netball and volleyball.

I truly enjoyed my time at the Peace Foundation and learnt so much about the operation of a NGO and what amazing work they do. I wish the team all the best.
