Whanaungatanga; Building Relationships through Restorative Practices’ (November 23th - 27th 2012)
The 5th National Restorative Justice Aotearoa and 3rd Resorative Pracise International 2011 Conferences.
Whanau, meaning family, is the focal point of the word whanaungatanga. Nga tanga is ‘indicative of everything about relationships between kin’. The combined word whanaungatanga can be used in several ways to refer to kinship, wellbeing and or connecting as one people, hence our theme- Building Relationships through Restorative Practices’.
The purpose of the conference theme is twofold:
1. To provide practitioners with an opportunity to showcase best practice/innovations which have built partnerships within and across agencies, organisations and fields of practice, to improve outcomes for individuals, families, and wider communities.
2. To provide an opportunity for connections to be made across the various fields of practice, so that practitioners can share with others the possibilities that exist for cooperation and partnerships between and across these domains.
