Wellington Global Mala - 20 September
This year's Wellington Global Mala event is fast approaching and we would love for you to come along on the day.Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 20 and plan to join us at Capital E from 1:00 p.m. for a community yoga & meditation event, happening right around the globe. We'll have something for everybody, including kids!
First held in September 2007 to coincide with UN World Peace Day, Global Mala belongs to the global yoga community.
“The Global Mala Project is the seed of a world-wide experiment into the power of meditation in action.
The purpose of the Global Mala is to unite the global yoga community from every continent, school or approach to form a ‘mala around the earth’ through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108.
It is the yoga world's offering to further the UN International Peace Day." –from the Original Global Mala organisers
Last year 150 yogis from around Wellington came together to demonstrate unity and peace through the practice of yoga. This year we anticipate doubling or tripling that number.
Wellington Global Mala 2009 will be offering:
live music
• kirtan
• the opportunity to do 108 sun salutations - you know you want to and WE know you CAN!
• meditation,
• 108 OMs
• activities for the kids
• free chai at around 4:30.
We are building on the energy of last year's raging success – together we generated incredible amounts of positive energy as we participated in the sun salutations, chanting, meditation and OMs. Plus we raised $1008 for the Peace Foundation, who will once again be the recipient of our fun(d)raising efforts.
Make it your plan to be there and be part of the fun!
